LIZ FISHER

Liz (Hyerdall) Fisher was 13 when her family decided to help plant CrossTown Church. Liz said she was “skeptical at first” because she had waited her “whole life to be in our other church’s high school youth group, and I was just about to get there.”

Although the youth group at CrossTown was small — sometimes it was just her and other times it included a handful of students — she said she never regretted her family’s decision to go to CrossTown.

“Our church body really came alongside my family, and every single person was completely instrumental in helping me to come to know the living God.”

Many of the life lessons God has taught Liz during the last 10 years happened as a result of her love for children and her involvement in the lives of families at the church.

She helped babysit for Joel Holtz, who was born with major medical issues, and she was able to watch the Holtz family’s faith in God as they trusted Him to work medical miracles in Joel’s life. As a member of the worship team, Liz said she cried with joy the first time she looked out from the stage and saw Joel enter the service.

Later, Liz helped the Aschliman family when Leslie was battling cancer. She took care of Leslie and their son, TJ, three days a week while Tyson was at work. Leslie’s compassion for others and faith in God even during the last days of her life made an incredible impact on Liz.

“I know that I can trust the living God no matter what the circumstance are,” Liz said. “No matter what happens in life or in death, there is nothing that is too big for Him.”
