We are so thankful for the way God has been moving in our church the past few weeks as we began our two-year generosity journey, Together. Since the last three Sundays of December, our church gave more than $171,000 to help launch our vision to go Deeper, Wider and Farther. in our hearts, relationships and community. We are overwhelmed by God’s faithfulness and the generosity of our church. Because the facility upgrades are cash to construction, early giving will help us begin those projects sooner.
FAMILY CHAT
Please make plans to attend Family Chat at 6 p.m. Jan. 28 to get details about the next steps in the Together initiative. We will explain how the One Fund is divided between operational needs, savings and proposed construction. We also will talk about how we plan to prioritize the Together facility upgrades, the construction timeline and the next steps to get involved in our vision to go Deeper, Wider and Farther. Childcare will be available for birth to Kindergarten.
GIVING STATEMENTS
Giving statements for 2017 will be available at the Info Table Jan. 21 and 28. Please stop by and ask for your statements, which will be in a sealed envelope. Givers also can check their annual contributions through our member directory at: thesanctuarychurch.ccbchurch.com. Click on your user profile and look for the financial tab to print out your giving statement.
ALPHA
Do you have questions about life and faith that you would like to discuss in a safe space? Would you like to have a better understanding of how to help people explore their faith? Would you like to find a place where you can bring friends and neighbors to explore their questions? If that’s you, you are invited to Alpha, starting at The Sanctuary in January. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith, with groups running around the globe. The group will run for 10 weeks on Tuesday evenings, starting Jan. 23.
LUNCH WITH THE PASTORS
If you are new to The Sanctuary, make plans to join us for Lunch with the Pastors right after second service on Feb. 11. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our mission and vision, get to know Pastor Ronn and Pastor John and, of course, enjoy lunch together. Childcare will be provided. THE FIGHT CLUB
Men of The Sanctuary meet every other Saturday from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. in the Community Room for breakfast, Bible study, discussion and accountability. The New Year schedule will begin on Jan. 13.
WORK AS WORSHIP
How does your work life intersect with your faith? The Bible makes no division between the sacred and secular parts of our lives. Discover how you can worship God through your worklife during this six-week elective, “Work as Worship,” which will meet at 9:30 a.m. Sundays, beginning Jan. 21. The study will incorporate powerful biblical teaching, real-life documentary stories, engaging video illustrations, and group discussions. Sign up at the Info Table if you would like to attend.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
We were never meant to take this journey of faith alone or in secret. God has entrusted us with the great and mighty gift of the gospel, something too precious and life-giving to keep to ourselves. Join other women of The Sanctuary for this six-week Beth Moore study. Participants will be encouraged to guard what God has entrusted to you, further His kingdom by sharing Christ with others, and pour into future generations just as Paul once mentored Timothy. The study is 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 31. Sign up at the Info Table.
LOVED
For the last seven years, The Sanctuary has had the privilege of bringing “Loved!,” a spa event, to our local domestic violence shelter. We are looking for people who love to paint nails, do make-up and offer hospitality, as well as licensed stylists, massage therapists, aestheticians and setup or take down volunteers. We have limited volunteer slots so sign up early for this wonderful event on Feb. 9.
MORNINGSTAR MISSION
If you are looking for an easy and meaningful way to serve in our community, sign up to partner with Morningstar Mission. We have the opportunity to help serve dinner to those without homes 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 13 or Feb. 10. There is room for seven volunteers on each date.
SURGE: Ash Wednesday
Join us on the first day of Lent as we prepare ourselves for the Easter season ahead. We will be worshipping together at 7 p.m. Feb. 14. Childcare will be available for birth to preschool. Our Ash Wednesday service will replace Surge, which is normally the first Wednesday of the month.
SAFETY TEAM
The church staff and elders are in the process of updating our safety procedures. We are putting together a list of attenders who are trained as a nurse, doctor, EMT, fire fighter, or police and are willing to be known as someone we could ask for help in the case of a medical emergency during our Sunday services. If you are not trained medically, but are interested in being a part of a Safety Team, we want to include you too! Contact [email protected] if you fit either description.
MENTORS NEEDED
Through our partnership with Kids Hope USA, we’ve adopted Irene King Elementary School in the Valley View School District to come alongside children who need a mentoring relationship. JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL
Our junior high and high school ministries meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays for student-led worship, large group teaching, small group discussion and tons of FUN! Feel free to arrive at 6:30 for hangout time.
YOUNG ADULTS
Our college and young adult group meets in the Green Room Sunday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. (with the exception of the last Sunday of the month). Lunch is provided! New people are always welcome. Contact Rebecca at 815.980.0127 with questions.
