The Slice: “My Secret” Begins Sunday
MY SECRET
We have all had one at some point in life. It might seem small: “I’m addicted to food.” “I watch too much TV.” “I’m in debt.” Or something that seems much larger: “I’m having an affair.” “I’m an alcoholic.” I’m losing my house.” Whatever the case, those secrets that we keep locked up tight could be eating us alive. They could be keeping us from growing in our walk with God. Join us Sunday when we begin a five-week sermon series at The Sanctuary called, “My Secret.” Come find a safe place where you can learn how to unlock your secrets and let God take control of that hidden place.
FALL FEST
Can you help us provide candy for Fall Fest? Please bring a bag of candy to church on Sunday and place it in the bins outside the auditorium, or drop it by the office during the week. We also need volunteers to help with crafts, games, set up and clean up. Please sign up at the Info Table if you can help fill a 30 minute volunteer time slot!
Fall Fest is 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26. We’ll have a pig roast, inflatables, pumpkin decorating, trunk or treat, a reptile show, and more. Feel free to wear friendly costumes and be sure to invite your friends and neighbors. Invitations are available at the Info Table.
NEW MEMBER WEBSITE
We have recently changed our online directory to a new hosting company. We want to encourage you to log in and check out how you can use our database. This is the place we will be posting volunteer schedules for ministry areas, the church wide calendar and registration for events. It’s also your stop to find contact info for others at The Sanctuary.
Here’s how you can help:
- Go to https://cometothesanctuary.org/media/member-login/ . Click the link that says “Sign Up” to create a user name and password. (This is a new database, so you should click “Sign Up” even if you had access to the old system.)
- Check your personal info and your family info to make sure everything is up to date.
- Upload a profile photo.
We are in the process of updating all of our ministry groups so you can use the online directory to check your serving schedules. If your ministry area is complete, you will see it listed under “groups.” You will find the new database much more user friendly than the one we used in the past!
PASTOR’S DESSERT
If you started attending The Sanctuary in the past year or so, you are invited to Pastor’s Dessert! This is a great opportunity to find out more about the mission and vision of the church, get to know the pastors, ask questions, and, of course, enjoy some dessert. Pastor’s Dessert is 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 at the church. Please RSVP at the Info Table if you plan to attend. (No childcare provided.)
PASTOR APPRECIATION
October is Pastor Appreciation month! If you would like to give our pastors a word of encouragement or a gift, please feel free to drop it in the baskets at the Info Table before or after service anytime during the month of October. This is a great time to let Pastor Ronn and Pastor Ben know how much we love and appreciate them.
MEN’S RETREAT
Men of The Sanctuary are invited to get away for a weekend of spiritual growth and fellowship at the Man Up! conference Nov. 1-2. The Sanctuary is joining Hope Free Church for the conference in Roscoe, IL. The Man Up! conference is designed to challenge men to rise up to the call to be disciplined in their relationship with Christ, in their marriages, as fathers, in service to the church and at work. Cost is $15 for the retreat, plus about $45 per person for hotel. The conference includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Sign up at the Info Table or contact for more details.
5K FOR KENDALL
Come out and support one of our Sanctuary families, the Atkinsons, at a 5K for Kendall Saturday. Friends and neighbors of the Atkinson family are organizing the run, as well as a “Royal Fall Festival” in celebration of Kendall’s 5th birthday. Kids are invited to dress up as their favorite fairy tale character in honor of our valiant princess, Kendall. The fall festival is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Freedom Park, 1600 Park Place (in the Southgate subdivision). Registration for the 5K begins at 9 a.m. and is $10 per person or $25 per family. All proceeds benefit the Kendall Quinn Medical Fund. For more info or to volunteer, contact .
YOUTH
Thrive and Crossfire, our junior high and high school ministries, are in full swing! Both groups meet together for student-led worship and large group teaching, then break off by age groups for small group discussion. Thrive and Crossfire meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Students are welcome to arrive at 6:30 for hang-out time.
