The Slice: Help us ambush the clinic on Sunday!
THE CLINIC CHRISTMAS AMBUSH IS SUNDAY!
Thank you so much to everyone who brought gifts for the gift mart or signed up to volunteer at the Bolingbrook Christian Health Center event, which is happening THIS Sunday! We are looking forward to a great opportunity to “ambush” the folks served by the clinic this Christmas!
If you would still like to help, it’s not too late! There are three ways you can be part of our corporate “Divine Ambush” of the clinic:
- Come to the Christmas party from 4 to 7 p.m. at the health center, located at New Song Church, 151 E. Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook. This is a great opportunity to leave isolation for community and get to know the families served by the clinic.
- Volunteer to help with crafts or games during the party. Please if you can help.
- Bring items for the gift mart to church on Sunday. We can still use lots of toys, games, clothes, hats, gloves, make-up kits, nail polish or sporting equipment. Many of the families attending the event have children between 10 and 14 years old, but gifts for all ages are needed.
DIVINE AMBUSH
We love hearing all of the stories of how people have been part of the Divine Ambush movement this month! Check out the Divine Ambush web site or the Divine Ambush Facebook page. If you have a story to share, please let us know on the blog or through Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #divineambush.
We want to shine a light in our community as we spread love, give joy and ultimately share the love of Jesus with our friends, neighbors, coworkers, teachers and even complete strangers. We want to encourage everyone in our church to be part of this conspiracy of kindness by “ambushing” someone. It doesn’t matter what you do or how you do it. Bake some cookies. Buy someone’s drink in the drive-thru. Write a note. You can ambush someone personally, or be part of a collective ambush. Encourage your small group to adopt a family you can shower with gifts for Christmas. Pick up some “Divine Ambush” cards at the Info Table to include with whatever you do.
LOST AND FOUND
We have a growing collection of items in our lost and found box, including a few winter coats! Please take a minute to check the blue bin, which is located by the coffee bar.
EVE OF EVE SERVICE
Invite your friends and family to celebrate with us at our Eve of Christmas Eve services at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 23. This will be a great evening that includes Christmas music and a relevant Biblical message. Plan to stay for dessert after the service. Childcare will be available for birth to preschool. Please bring a plate of cookies if you are able.
FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY
If you are looking to make changes in how you handle your finances, be sure to sign up for the Financial Peace University class, which will begin in late January. We will offer the class at two times, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays (beginning Jan. 27) and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays (beginning Feb. 1). Cost for the course is $93 per couple and includes a workbook, materials and access to the Financial Peace University web site. Sign up at the Info Table or using the tear-off section in The Slice.
ONE SERVICE DEC. 29
As we look ahead at wrapping up the Divine Ambush sermon series and saying farewell to the year 2013, we are planning one service the last Sunday of the year! We will worship with everyone together in one service at 10 a.m. that Sunday! We will have KidsTown classes for birth to third grade.
YOUTH
Thrive and Crossfire, our junior high and high school ministries, will be having their Christmas party 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Remember to bring a white elephant gift to exchange! This will be the last meeting until Jan. 15.
Crossfire will be having a LOCK IN 8:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Dec. 27-28. Get ready for games, food and NO sleep!
Please pray for our youth as they attend Winter Xtreme at Camp TimberLee! Thrive will be attending Jan. 10-12 and Crossfire will be there Jan. 24-26.
